Equipping Ministry

At the end of your life, would you like to know that you left a significant impact on the world? Would you like to identify your heart's desire, your passion? Do you want to learn more about how you can connect with other people through volunteering? Are you interested in plugging into a place of service where you will feel energized instead of drained? We can help you find the answers to those important questions!

It all begins with understanding that a vital part of doing life deeply with God and others is serving in ministry. And here at Woodmen Valley Chapel, we want to equip and then empower you to serve in an area of ministry that best fits your unique gifts, passion, abilities, personality and experiences. For the Scriptures teach us that as followers of Christ, God has called and uniquely designed each of us for the purpose of ministering to Him and others. And to help you determine how God has uniquely “shaped” you for ministry, we encourage you to sign up for our S.H.A.P.E. course.  There you will examine the following five areas, to see how God has uniquely created you and which will be used to help you find the best place to serve and experience success:

  • Spiritual gifts – Through the Holy Spirit, God gives each believer special divine abilities which He wants us to use to share His love and to serve Him and others.
  • Heart – God has given each of us areas of interest and a special passion of the soul that draws us to some area of God’s kingdom work on earth.  This will help you serve in a place that truly excites you!
  • Abilities – In addition to our Spiritual gifts, each of us also possesses special abilities, talents, and skills, whether natural or learned and developed,.  God wants us to use them to make an impact for Him.
  • Personality – Each of us has certain character traits, preferences, and a personal style with others that helps us navigate life.  We want you to serve in areas that match your particular personality, and which will help you fulfill your unique kingdom purpose.
  • Experiences – God uses each life event—and their cumulative effect—to mold us into the servant He wants us to be.  Even those painful or tragic experiences in your life which God has brought you through can be redeemed and used for His purposes in serving Him and others.

You see, God has specially designed you to minister His grace to others. By understanding God's plan for your life, you can grasp the full meaning of ministry, and begin to experience the joy and fulfillment that comes from serving Him and others in our church and community…according to your unique “shape”!

This four-week course is offered at various times during the year as one of our “Foundations” electives.

S.H.A.P.E. Class

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

As “God’s masterpiece," you are a work of divine art. Come discover how God has given you a unique S.H.A.P.E. (Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experiences) to do the “good things” He has planned for you. For what God calls you to do He equips you to do.

During this course, you will complete a series of assessments to help identify these five elements that have equipped you for ministry, and produce a “Personal Profile” of your unique “shape." This profile will then help you identify a place of ministry in which you were designed by God to succeed. As you begin to serve God and others in that ministry, you will see Him at work in you and through you. And, you will see fruit from your efforts and experience personal fulfillment.

This 4-week course is offered throughout the year as one of the electives in our “Foundations” series. The cost is $10/person for materials.
