Our "Flagship Crew" consists of men who serve as leaders, coordinators, and assistants in teams responsible for "Ministry to Men" at WVC. A team member should be a committed Christ-follower and WVC attendee who has a heart to impact the lives of other men - with time, interest, and ability to serve on a consistent basis.

Whether you are a seasoned leader or a newbee who is willing to learn how to help, we have a place for you. We believe that every man is a leader in one way or another, but to be a good leader requires learning how to influence under God's direction -- as a servant. And we need more men like you to serve with us!
Our leadership philosophy is to "become to each other" what we want to reproduce in the men whom we serve. We model this by intentionally spending time getting to know each other, by forming teams that leverage the individual strengths of its members, and by encouraging every current and potential crew member to be in authentic relationships with other men. We all need to be life-long learners and accountable to those who are a bit further along in their Spiritual journey than we are. As crewmembers, we should continually challenge one another to being more like Jesus. And each of us must be in the process of developing at least one apprentice who is able to take on ever-increasing responsibility.
Current Needs
Connecting Team
Connecting with people at a church as large as ours can be very difficult. For someone new it's often easier to simply attend and remain uninvolved, even when their heart's desire is to serve Christ. Being a part of the church body is more than just attending. Involvment is a vital component for spiritual growth and service breathes life into the church. The Connecting Team helps men get plugged into relationships through Men on Course so they can serve Christ and His church body. We do this by offering a warm welcome to our brothers and making ministry involvement accessible to them. If you are led to serve in this way please contact Rich.
Men's Information Table
We need guys to "man" our ministry table before and after each weekend service. New opportunities and more information will continue to come and we will train you on the details. If you can be available to stand and welcome men (only one time per month) before and after the service you normally attend, please contact Rich to schedule your time slot.
Current Teams
Prayer - Intercede for people, plans, and activities for men. Provide prayer information and be available to pray with teams.
Connecting - Actively welcome and greet individuals at men's functions. Provide follow-up and coordination for people interested in getting involved in the other ministry areas.
Communication - Prepare and distribute information for men; includes: promotional material/brochures for the ministry and special events, newsletters, email messages, website postings, Shelby database maintenance, calendaring events, and coordinating communication for men's meetings, projects, and teams.
Relationships - Help men deepen their spiritual maturity and build genuine friendships. Develop and coordinate community groups, mentoring relationships, and approaches for discipleship and spiritual formation.
Resources - Research and maintain available lists of speakers, materials, and other resources for men. Coordinate training.

Monthly Men's Event (Third Tuesday of every month)
Members of this team work behind the scenes and up front to ensure that this is a warm, welcome, inviting place for WVC guys to connect, belong and be challenged. Areas of service and outreach include coordination of the program, connecting opportunities, facilities/media, food/refreshments, games, giveaways, and communications.
