Our Women's Bible Studies at WVC are called The Pursuit because we are passionate about pursuing a deeper relationship with God through studying His Word together. These studies also provide a great way for women to authentically and compassionately share life together.
We hope you can join us for one of our Bible Studies beginning in January 2012. We offer Bible studies both mornings and evenings at Rockrimmon and Woodmen Heights and some of our studies also provide childcare. Please note that you may register for childcare at the same time you register for your Bible study.
Online payment for the studies is required. To ensure you’ve completed the registration process, please follow the prompts until you receive the message that your registration has been completed. You will also receive an email confirmation for your registration. Thank you.
Questions or to request a scholarship, please email Pam Lewis at pam.lewis@woodmenvalley.org.
James - Mercy Triumphs by Beth Moore
This is a powerful new study on the book of James written by Beth Moore. James, Jesus' own brother, started out as a skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple. Bible scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In other ways, James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any other New Testament book. Topics in this study include: joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer. This nine-week study includes video teaching by Beth Moore and optional small discussion groups.
Cost for materials: $20 (scholarships available)

Beth walks participants through each trait of the fruit of the Spirit and encourages women to know the freedom of a Spirit-filled life. Precepts Morning Study – Joshua and Ruth – 10 weeks
Join this smaller Bible study (maximum of 25 women) to dig deeper into the books of Joshua and Ruth together. Precept Bible studies are in-depth studies where you take each passage verse by verse and chapter by chapter.
Joshua - God said, "Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed." Increase your faith in God who has put you in His grip and will never let you go. This study on the book of Joshua will charge you up and encourage you to press on!
Ruth - if you were a slave, who would buy your freedom? If you had an enemy, who would come to your defense? In the Old Testament, this buyer-defender known as a "kinsman - redeemer" was usually a close relative. This rich study shows how Jesus both bought us (redeemer) and advocates (defends) for us, offering us an opportunity to rebuild our broken lives.
Cost for materials: $25 (scholarships available)
Wednesdays • 9:00-11:30 am – begins January 18
Rockrimmon Community Center, Rms 117/118 (childcare)
Leaders: Alia Rieker and Stephanie Flynn - broncodudes@msn.com
Precepts Evening Study: Romans by Kay Arthur
How do we live life as a "living sacrifice" -- wholly acceptable to God? If the gospel delivers us not only from sin's penalty but also from sin's power, then how is it worked out practically in our lives? Come join in as we journey through Romans, chapters 12-16 together. Open your Bible and your heart to the letter the Apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Rome, called by many his “Magnum Opus”. It was Martin Luther who said of Romans, “it deserves to be known by heart, word for word, by every Christian.”
Cost for materials: $25 (scholarships available)
Mondays • 6:30-8:30 pm – begins January 9
Rockrimmon Community Center, Rm 108/109 (no childcare)

Study for Military Wives, Moms & Loved Ones
Brave: Honest Questions Women Ask – by Angela Thomas
As military wives who are faced with multiple deployments, frequent moves, loneliness, raising our children often by ourselves due to spouse’s absence, wartime threats and so many other circumstances unique to our families, we need to know that God cares and that He is with us both in our trials and triumphs. Our Tuesday morning Bible study offers a chance for military wives and moms to connect and support each other while studying God's Word together.
We will be journeying together through a powerful study written by Angela Thomas - Brave: Honest Questions Women Ask. This Bible study looks at the heart of what women are thinking and feeling. Angela looks boldly at some of the fears and struggles of being a woman, and she helps us see how we can be brave in the face of those challenges. We've all got insecurities, flaws, and struggles that we're afraid to address. But if we can be brave enough to raise the questions, God will answer us. You've got questions. God's got answers. Be brave. Ask.
Cost for materials: $15 (scholarships available)
