Baptism is a public display of a believer's commitment to Christ. Baptism does not make a person a Christian, but is symbolic of death to sin and resurrection to a new life in Christ.

While the "ceremonial" part of one baptism service is much the same as another, each is often distinguished by the testimony of the person being baptized, in which they explain how they came to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
