We offer many training opportunities in order to pursue excellence and achieve our vision. Whether you're here for the first time or you are a seasoned veteran that wants to get cross-trained at another skill or campus. You are in the right place! If you have any questions, please direct them to Annie.
Training Opportunities
Training is offered on a regular basis, usually on Thursday nights during practice. Please email us in advance if you are interested in any of the following:
Due to personnel and equipment scheduling, please coordinate with us in advance by email if you are interested in any of the following areas:
- Orientation - An overview of the technologies and operating positions that we staff, including what we are all about in terms of ministry and people. From there you can decide which specific area you would like to get further training in.
- Camera - Starts out with a 15-minute equipment orientation, learning about the camera and tripod controls and their operation. From there, you will learn how the director will communicate information over the intercom system; hear all the terms the director uses, and the types of shots the director will be looking for. You will be able to spend as much time is available practicing with the equipment.
- Video Director - Starts with a familiarization with all the equipment that we use on-site. Then, you will get an idea of what skills and responsibilities the position entails, such as communication, creativity, multi-tasking, to name a few. New directors are required to get live training with a director for at least four services, in addition to serving once at all camera positions.
- Sound - Basic sound board layout and skill set evaluation will be covered. Due to the nature of the training during rehearsal time, you will have an opportunity to see the equipment used and ask questions during the live mixing session. Further training will be assessed depending upon skill set and experience.
- Lighting - Basic operation, as well as light board, light fixture, and basic focusing techniques are covered. You will have an opportunity to operate the board and equipment in a similar context as a weekend service. Further in depth training on lighting setup and programming is available with time permitting. New operators are required to get live training with a light board operator for at least four services.
- Computer - Basic operation and timing are covered. If available, you will have an opportunity to operate the computer in a similar context as a weekend service. New operators are required to get live training with a computer operator for at least four services.
