Our Vision

The vision of Woodmen Valley Chapel is to launch and strengthen a fleet of Christ-following communities who are compassionately sailing through a turbulent culture toward a deeper amazement of God's grace.

Who God is Calling Us to be...What God is Calling Us to Do

On the journey, WHO is God calling us to be?
A fleet of Christ-following communities...

On the journey, WHAT is He calling us to do along the way?
...compassionately sail through a turbulent culture...

On the journey, WHERE is He calling us to go?
...toward a deeper amazement of God's grace.

Three Implications of Our Amazement

The following implications are both indications of the amazement we already have, as well as catalysts for deeper amazement!
If we are amazed, we will EXPLORE grace
  • Scripture: Pursuing a knowledge of God's Word that applies to the realities of our daily lives (Acts 17:11-12).
  • Story: Pursuing an exploration of the story of our life's journey - both the beauty and the brokenness - and seeing its connection with God's larger Story centered around the gospel and unfolded throughout history (Acts 20:18-19).
  • Substance: Pursuing a balanced grasp of both Scriptural truth and honesty about our story (Acts 20:20, 27).
  • Seekers: Pursuing an environment where unbelievers are free to investigate the gospel (Acts 17:16-34; 20:21).
If we are amazed, we will EXPERIENCE grace
  • Authenticity: Engaging with our desperation (if we do not understand our sin and consequent desperation, we will never be amazed by His intervention), Luke 15:11-20a.
  • Forgiveness: Engaging with God's intervention (amazement is inevitable when we are stunned by God's pursuit of us!), Luke 15:20b-22.
  • Transformation: Engaging with our freedom (freedom is following Jesus, not behavioral conformity to a Christian subculture), Luke 15:23-24.
  • Community: Engaging with each other (celebration, refuge and accountability occurs when we process and experience grace together), Luke 15:25-32.
If we are amazed, we will EXPRESS grace
  • Celebration: Unleashing worship and prayer (because of God's worthiness and power), II Corinthians 5:14.
  • Calling and Creativity: Unleashing people (because of God's nature and sovereign wisdom), II Corinthians 5:15.
  • Conviction and Communication: Unleashing the Gospel (because of God's truth), II Corinthians 5:18-21.
  • Compassion: Unleashing hope (because of God's heart), II Corinthians 5:20, 6:12.
