Think Again
“Christ never meant that we were to remain children in intelligence …
He wants a child’s heart, but a grown-up’s head.”
C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
Do you think your questions don’t belong when it comes to evaluating the truth of Jesus Christ? When it comes to taking a step of faith in God? When it comes to embracing the Gospel?
Think again.
In fact, contrary to the opinions of many, that word, “think,” is vital when it comes to engaging with Jesus Christ. Some object to the notion that Christianity is thoughtful in any way, shape or form — they caricature faith to be a blind leap made in spite of facts and contrary to reason.
Now, of course, Christianity requires faith. But such a step of faith is not a blind, mindless, foolish leap in the dark, but a thoughtful step that is based on reason. Yes, biblical Christianity goes beyond the rational into the realm of the spiritual, but it does not go around the rational or against reason. Mystical religiosity might involve such blind leaps, but biblical Christianity embraces a mindful, thoughtful faith.
Engaging our minds is not optional when it comes to engaging with Truth and following Christ. Jesus exhorts each of us to not only love God with all your heart and soul, but also with “all your mind” (Matthew 22:37).
Paul taught the church in Rome to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” He then pointed out that the mind’s renewed engagement is what will pave the way for being able to test the authenticity of God and taste the trustworthiness of His will for us (Romans 12:2).
Questions? They’re welcome.
Thinking? It’s vital.
Asking honest questions and thinking deeply about the Truth of the Gospel? It’s worth it.
So, we invite you to Think Again. Your Life depends on it.
We all encounter doubt. We can experience it in any number of arenas in our lives – from religious beliefs (whether a person is a believer in God or an atheist) to air travel to the stock market. But our specific focus during this series is dealing with doubt regarding the truth and veracity of Christianity.

Weekends at Woodmen!
Woodmen Valley Chapel (WVC) is one church with multiple locations, Rockrimmon and Woodmen Heights. You will notice as you worship with us today, that while we have pastoral and worship arts teams at both locations, our communities are connected via live video-cast in order to worship together as one church body on both sides of the city. Although geographically separated, both communities are expressions of WVC in every way: the vision, the passion and the invitation to live authentically and abundantly through faith in Jesus Christ.
