Our Core Values...
In addition to supporting the overall vision and values of Woodmen Valley Chapel, Catalyst operates with two primary, core values. They are:
- God is present in His creation
- Adventure has value toward spiritual formation
Our Operating Values...
The operating values that guide our decisions include these four characteristics:
- Spiritual Formation - Adventure activities have value toward spiritual formation. Therefore, Catalyst events use adventure not for its own sake but for the ultimate goal of seeing Christ reflected in the lives of leaders and participants. This happens through interacting with God and His creation; engaging in appropriate challenges; grappling with God's word; exploring the depth of God through prayer; building relationships with others; and reflecting on God's intervention in our individual journeys through solitude and silence.
- Excellence - As image bearers of God and representatives of His church, we carry the responsibility of reflecting His character to others. Therefore, we strive for excellence in all we do! Catalyst participants should be aware of our commitment to excellence in the way we operate each event. More on this issue is discussed during participant prep sessions. >
- Safety - Risk is inherent in most adventure activities. We take risk seriously and require all Guides to be trained appropriately according to the risk level of the activities they lead. Participants of Catalyst events must also acknowledge appropriate safey measures and submit to the safety requirements as specified by the Guide.
- Accessibility - Ability and fitness levels vary greatly among people who participate in adventure activities. Catalyst's goal is to provide multiple entry points for folks of all levels so that no one is hindered from participation.
