A.C.T.S. Mobile Food Pantry Team
After the closing of the Express Inn in May 2011, the Mobile Food Pantry Team spent six weeks in prayer seeking God's guidance for a new ministry that would provide the three fundamentals of our ministry.
- RELIEF: by way of emergency food assistance
- RELATIONSHIPS: by reaching out and engaging with those in need
- RESTORATION: by expressing our amazement at God's Grace by proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ
After this time in prayer, God has led us to the A1 Mobile Village, located at 1025 Garner Street. This community is made up of some of the most impoverished people in our city. There are 75 mobile home units in this community, many with multiple families living in a single unit. Approximately 450 people live there, 100 of those being children. The majority of the adults only speak Spanish but most of the children speak both Spanish and English.
One of our greatest needs is an increase in food donations through the 1 Can i Can program. In faith we have stepped out to serve this much larger community of people in need, and we trust that the Body of Christ will help us meet this need through the increase of food donations. Please click here to view our list of needed food items.
We are amazed at God's direction and provision for our Mobile Food Pantry Team. Please join us by supporting this ministry in prayer and your continued food donations.
Food Voucher Program:
In addition to providing much needed food to the A1 Mobile Village, the Mobile Food Pantry Team also provides immediate food relief through the WVC Pastoral Care Department for our own WVC families in need of food assistance. Additionally, we also provide food assistance for Fort Carson families in need through the Army Emergency Relief Program.
Our History:
Until the Express Inn closed in May 2011, the Mobile Food Pantry Team partnered with the Express Inn located at the corner of Cimarron and 8th Street, here in Colorado Springs. The Express Inn provided 175 rooms to individuals on the brink of homelessness, including veterans, individuals with disabilities, and people facing unemployment and low income situations.
Twice a month, the Mobile Food Pantry Team provided personalized bags of canned food to each resident at the Express Inn. Additionally, they provided a Crock Pot meal once a month to the residents as well as taught nutrition classes. The Mobile Kitchen also served 2 meals a month to the residents.
Lives were changed at the Express Inn as volunteers humbly served those who were desperately in need of God's love and grace.
