Training Ground - Small Group Bible Studies

Growing the body of Christ and expanding the walls of the Church

“Teach me, O LORD, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end.” Psalm 119:33

Training Ground is a new ministry focused on small group women’s Bible studies of Christ-followers who are genuinely seeking God in their lives through in-depth study and application of His Word. These Bible studies of 10-12 women will gather in homes, workplaces, coffee houses, etc. throughout the week. If you have questions about this ministry, please contact Molly Johnson at 719.531.6535 or mollycjohnson@hotmail.com.

The Practice of Godliness – led by Molly Johnson
Scripture tells us that God has given us everything we need for life and godliness. But what makes a Christian godly? This study will examine what it means to grow in Christian character and help us establish an inward foundation of God-centeredness upon which that character is built in order to live godly lives. This study will help you establish that foundation and then build an outward structure of Godlikeness.

Growing in godliness is a two-fold process involving an ever-deepening devotion to God, and developing a character that is steadily transformed into His likeness. Using Jerry Bridges' book The Practice of Godliness and accompanying study guide, this study will help you grow in your fear of, love for, and devotion to God—the three essentials to a godly life. As you learn how to take on God's character, you'll explore how to let the Holy Spirit cultivate the fruit of God's character traits in your life.

Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 pm. Homework required. For more information and to sign up, please contact Molly at 719.531.6535 or mollycjohnson@hotmail.com. Group is filling up quickly. Cost is $20.

Character Development: Desiring to Present Each Person Mature in Christ - led by Barb Riskey
Do you ever feel like you are a fake, having no other choice? Do you long for true Christian community, where there is a real commitment to honesty, scripture reigns supreme, Christ is trusted as fully sufficient, masks are removed, and fear is exposed to the healing light of Christ? Do you long to be SAFE…fully known and fully loved by Him? Do you honestly long to love God and others well, but don't know how? Would you like to step up to the challenge of Christ-like humility, relying fully on Him rather than your own strength? Do you struggle with anger, resentment, and apathy? Do you want to know joy? Are you willing to risk putting down your futile attempts at self-protection? Are you willing to trust God enough to let Him change your character and replace it with more of His own?

If your answer is yes to these questions, you may want to prayerfully consider joining a few other women for this exciting, encouraging study in a home-fellowship atmosphere. We will be meeting from 6-9 pm. roughly every other week for nine months. Homework required. Cost for materials will be no more than $20. For more information, please contact Barbara Riskey at 719-375-5138 or barbriskey@gmail.com.
