Breckenridge Motorcycle Ride
Saturday, September 6, 2008 • 8:30 am - 1:30 pm
Greetings everyone. We are planning another ride to Breckenridge. Please review the following information regarding our event. Hopefully it will answer some of your basic questions.
Preparation: We are assuming you will have a full tank. Breckenridge is 110 miles from Woodmen. Including our stop at Wilkerson Pass, we are allowing approximately 3 hours for the drive.
Guests: Feel free to invite any friends who may want to join us - "the more the merrier."
Departure: We will leave Woodmen at 8:30 am sharp from our RR Campus, upper parking lot.
Route: Our route is simple - 25 South to 24 West, 24 West past Hartsel and right on Route 9 into Breckenridge.
Stop: We will stop at Wilkinson Pass which is exactly half way to Breckenridge. This will be a point to regroup as needed.
Arrival: : We plan to arrive in Breckenridge at approximately 11:30 am. Once in town let’s plan to park, as a group, in the paid parking area as noted below. During off season, parking is free.
Parking: For group parking, here is where you should park and meet for our ride home.
- As we enter town, stop at the 2nd light (Main and Park).
- Turn left on Park Street.
- Continue on Park for approximately 1/8 of a mile and turn left into the first paid skiing lot immediately past the bus stop.
Lunch: Anywhere you want in town. Many of us will be eating at the Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant. It is located at 600 Park Street or close to the corner of Main and Park, which is the traffic light at the entrance to town. A second favorite stop is Kenosha’s restaurant or Bubba’s Shrimps. Both locations are accessible from the “River Walkway” behind the parking lot.
Departure: For those of you who want to ride back in a group, we will depart from the parking area at 1:30 pm. Be sure to gas up before we leave. Others may wish to ride back independently or take some side trips.
Suggested Guidelines:
- Buddy – Please connect with one other motorcycle rider in your group to serve as “your buddy.” This is simply a safety check to keep an eye out for one another in case of a breakdown.
- Breakdown – Because of our destination’s close proximity to Colorado Springs, we will not have a chaser vehicle for breakdowns. Should your “buddy” or “fellow group member” break down, please stay with them until some plan or arrangements have been established for their assistance.
- Remember our guidelines of not riding tandem or passing in the same lane. As always, be reminded that you are responsible for your own safety.
Weather Concerns the morning of the ride or Lost in Breckenridge, call Doug’s cell: 719.243.1931.
Please note that WVC, its employees and/or volunteers assume no liability in regard to accident, injury, road conditions, driver skill or circumstances related to the Breckenridge Ride. Each rider assumes responsibility for the costs of damages or injuries under their own insurance policies.
