Families at WVC
Nothing is more important than someone's relationship with God. And no one has more potential to influence a child than the parent - either positively or negatively. Our desire is to partner with parents in the spiritual development of their children. Through various methods we seek to have parents actively involved in key events that mark critical passages for growth in children. Included are: Take It Home Events, Family Nights, our Weekend Services and take home papers (Family Time Together forms, Refrigerator Doors, God Times and Family Activity Pages).
There are six questions that every child asks:
- Who am I?
- What's true?
- Who really cares?
- Who else believes in me?
- Where do I fit in?
- Why am I here?
Since moral foundations are generally in place by the age of nine, we want to work with parents and families to provide tools so that they can pass on their faith to this generation.
"Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street, talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night..." Deuteronomy 6:4, The Message

Parents and children of any age, use this chart to record the number of times you read the Bible, pray or serve with your child. If you complete 10 or more activities in a week, sign the bottom and have your child turn it in at the Greeter's desk. Your family's name will be entered in a monthly drawing.
