For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. (1 Corinthians 12:13)

Real People, Real Stories
Karli Gasowski (Rockrimmon)
Before I became a follower of Jesus Christ, my life was in turmoil. I was confused about not only who I was, but also how to go forward in my life. I was at the end of my rope and didn’t know what to do. That’s when I heard the Holy Spirit whispering to me. He told me that He was saving me. Although I had accepted Christ as a child, I had turned my back on Him. But He had never left me. I decided to accept Christ into my heart again, this time for good. That was 3-1/2 years ago and since then I have lived my life with a peace that I never knew existed. Now I can’t imagine living my life without Him. I want to be baptized out of obedience to show the world my love for Him.
James Gray (Woodmen Heights)
Before I knew Jesus my life was okay, but I never really experienced any joy. I always felt like I was missing something and when I got that next “something” – something was still missing. I was living daily to fulfill my earthly desire for the next fun fix. I know how I used to say how Jesus came into my life but I could never explain why He chased me for so long! Then one day I was talking to my wife and telling her about a Vacation Bible School I went to when I was ten years old. I told her how I prayed and asked Jesus into my heart with that ten-year-old innocence. When I went home and excitedly told my mother what I had done, she told me it was a meaningless act…and soon I’d forgotten it had ever taken place. But Jesus didn’t forget and chased me for another twenty years until I finally recognized Him once again. Jesus has changed my life in some outwardly noticeable ways…but those aren’t so important to me. Peace, joy, completeness…those are the good ones. I want to be baptized out of obedience. Every time I watch a baptism I know that I need to obey God’s command but every time I remain planted in my chair. It is finally time to get off my chair.

I was baptized when I was a baby and went to church before Jesus changed my heart. I came to Christ in August 2006. Jesus is my Savior and I wish to be baptized because I feel like I am now ready.
James Jones (Rockrimmon)
My life was always in knots, never feeling free. With Christ in my life, I feel free and full of hope. I have believed in Christ for many years, just never gave myself to Him. That has now changed. Throughout my life I know He has been with me. In Vietnam I felt He was my co-pilot and in Iraq He was with me. I wish to be baptized because I believe in salvation through Christ.
