OUR MISSION: To encourage writers to explore and unleash their God-given creativity to encourage and inspire others.  OUR GOAL: To provide training and networking opportunities to motivate writers to hone their writing skills and pursue publication.
OUR VISION: To provide a welcoming environment where writers encourage each other to write and to express through writing the story imprinted upon their hearts.   
Sponsored by the Worship Arts Community of Woodmen Valley Chapel, Springs Writers (formerly known as Writer's Gathering) provides free monthly, conference-quality workshops for anyone interested in writing. Publishing professionals—authors, editors, freelancers, and agents—share their expertise.

 Monday, April 14, 2008 Workshop: Memoir, Essay, and Personal Experience: How Real Life Stories Can Power Your WritingMonday, 6:30 PM–8:00 PM, 280 East Woodmen Road, Stone Chapel Auditorium

Workshop Description: The power of the true story can drive a variety of books and articles, engaging readers and teaching through illustration and example. But writing compelling real stories can require as much technique as writing fictional stories.

Speaker: Liz Duckworth manages the Church Resources area at David C. Cook and leads the team responsible for creative church learning resources, Vacation Bible School, and toys, games and activity books. She has been a book editor for Focus on the Family, Cook, and Victor Books. Published books include Wildflower Living: Cultivating Inner Strength in Times of Storm and Drought (WaterBrook), and Bloom Before You’re Planted: Gardening Tools for a Woman’s Soul (Cook). Her children’s picture book, Ragtail Remembers (Centering Corporation), helps children deal with feelings of grief. Snow PolicyIf School District 20 closes, the evening workshop will be cancelled. If the school district is not closed, we will make our decision to cancel a workshop by 4:00 pm and email the Springs Writers E-News subscribers.
